AME feature in 2020 Supercars Media Awards
This year’s Bathurst 1000 was set to be an emotional event for domestic motorsport fans all over Australia, after it was announced that this year’s event would mark the last for iconic car manufacturer, Holden. AME Management were tasked with creating premium digital content that adequately sent off the legendary marque, which eventuated in winning the coveted Best in-broadcast or digital feature/news story at the 2020 Supercars Media Awards.
Following the announcement that parent company General Motors had called an end to the historic Holden brand in Australia, both AME and Holden worked collaboratively to develop a strategy that would serve as an appropriate send off for the iconic brand, which involved coordination of some of Holden’s most decorated stars throughout the ages. This ultimately culminated in the creation of the ‘Holden Motorsport Memories’ series, which featured during the Bathurst 1000 broadcast both nationally and internationally.
“Holden is, and will always be, one of Australia’s most recognisable brands and creating these moments of Holden history for an international television audience was one the entire AME team are truly proud of.
“To sit down with motor racing royalty such as Lowndes, Skaife and Perkins and put their famous Holden Motorsport tales to broadcast was a proud moment for our team to send off such a legendary brand – and what better place than the greatest race of them all – The Bathurst 1000.
“To be awarded with a prestigious Supercars Media trophy is an achievement we all receive with great pride as we say farewell to the roaring lion one last time,” said AME Management General Manager, Gus Burrows
The mini series was well received by both viewers of the broadcast and on social media, achieving 50,000 + views on online platforms, as fans watched the likes of Holden legends Mark Skaife, Jamie Whincup, Greg Murphy, Larry Perkins, Craig Lowndes and Allan Grice break down some of their most iconic memories of being part of the Holden folklore.
Although a sad day for domestic motorsport, the AME Team are proud to have delivered a series that fans enjoyed, and that successfully achieved the send off that the fans, brand, historic drivers and all other affiliates deserved, which is what the Supercars award represents.
