Australia’s greatest Supercross rider Chad Reed has charged home to win the opening night of the AUS-X Open in Sydney in front 15,000 screaming fans at the Allphones Arena.
AUS-X Open’s inaugural night of competition enjoyed huge praise from fans and riders alike, with an epic party atmosphere coupled with a sold out stadium making the Sydney event a massive success.
Competing against Australia’s and the world’s best riders Reed put on a racing clinic, much to the delight of his hometown fans who enjoyed their first taste of indoor Supercross racing in over a decade.
The coveted Monster Energy ‘Best Trick’ award went to Australia’s Jackson Strong for his death defying one-handed front flip that earned him the score of a perfect 10, edging out Japan’s Taka Higashino in second and fellow countryman Rob Adelberg in third.
After taking the Foxhead holeshot, Reed beat out his legendary idol Carmichael in the adrenalin-charged race that brought the crowd to its feet.
Both riders received a standing ovation from the crowd, with the showdown continuing into tomorrow for the second day of the AUS X-Open.
