MARK WINTERBOTTOM IDENTIFIES A UNIQUE APPROACH IN FIGHTING FOR THE 2017 SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP
The Supercars are back in Perth this weekend; the scene of what Mark Winterbottom describes as his most rewarding victory ever.
Frosty propelled his way back into the 2017 Supercars Championship race after some clever plays during a bizarre round at Phillip Island last time out.
A strong second place finish in Sunday’s race there has fuelled hopes of a repeat of his title winning year in 2015, and another victory in the West.
What was pitched as a battle of the heavy weight teams has swelled in recent time with more competitors showing title winning form.
Speed is one thing. Winterbottom reckons race pace and good strategic calls will be key in final outcome this season.
Sharing a pit box with Winterbottom is Monster Energy Racing’s young gun, Cam Waters, who has shown incredible determination so far in 2017….he’s seventh in his sophomore year.
While he can take some credit for the hot start, Waters has been quick to stress that this is very much a teams game, and works closely with his Prodrive stablemate to get the best result for the squad.
Supercars practise gets underway in the west at lunchtime, on Friday.
