Waters to pair with Kiwi superstar Stanaway for Pirtek Enduro Cup
Monster Energy Racing’s Cam Waters will team up with New Zealand sensation Richie Stanaway for the 2017 Pirtek Endurance Cup, with the two set to commandeer the #6 Monster Energy Ford.
For 2017, Monster Energy will once again ‘Unleash The Beast’ within the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, with Waters’ Ford representing the iconic green claw.
“I’m so pumped to be back with Monster Energy Racing in 2017! “ commented Waters.
“Monster Energy is a brand that every kid dreams of representing in any discipline, so to be driving for them for the second season is awesome.”
A former German Formula Three Champion and multiple Formula Ford New Zealand Champion, Stanaway will return for his second season of Supercars co-driving duties, as he joins Waters in the Monster Energy Racing machine for Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast.
“It’s great to be back in for the Supercars endurance season this year; especially with a brand that’s as powerful as Monster Energy,” Stanaway said.
“Cam finished a strong P4 at Bathurst last year and drove a great race, so the plan is to go better this year and stand on the podium at The Mountain.
“Supercars are an amazing piece of machinery and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel with one of the up and coming stars of the sport,” Stanaway finished.
The pairing of Waters and Stanaway will mark one of the youngest duos on the Supercars grid for 2017, with the two set to face off against the older, more established drivers in the field.
“I’m confident in Richie’s and my ability to perform. He is a remarkable driver and has achieved so much already on the international racing scene despite only being in his mid 20s.
“Richie drove great last year as a co-driver and already has the experience of the Prodrive Racing built Supercar under his belt [co-driving for Chris Pither in 2016], which is a massive bonus for our chances.
“In 2016 the #6 Monster Energy Ford was able to achieve some really good results too, so I’m excited to see what we can do together this year,” commented Waters.
The season opener for the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship kicks off around the streets of Adelaide, with the Clipsal 500 taking place on the 2 – 5 of March.
