World Surf League record books rewritten by Wright at Cloudbreak

Monster Energy Athlete and Aussie pro surfer, Owen Wright, has smashed the record books becoming the first ever surfer to score two perfect heats in a single event on his way to winning Stop No. 5 of 11 on the 2015 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour (CT).

“Ohh man! Wow that just really turned it on out there for me!” Wright said.

“Something really special just happened out there and to finish with a couple of 10s, man that’s a dream come true right here. Man it feels good!!”

Wright laid down two perfect 10 rides in the fifth round to dismantle fellow Aussie Adam Melling at the infamous Cloudbreak in Fiji. If that wasn’t enough for the hard-charging Aussie, Wright then dominated compatriot Julian Wilson in the final with a history making second perfect heat to claim his second CT crown.

Even more impressive was to see both waves in both heats back-to-back rides as the Culburra local got barreled by some of the most insane waves on the planet.

“I’m stoked to be back up on the podium and wouldn’t be here without all the support back home. “It’s just perfect,” Owen said during his post-win interview.

“You can’t really say anything more.”
