Defending World Surf League (WSL) Women’s Champion Tyler Wright scouted out Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta today, in preparations for next week’s Roxy Pro Gold Coast.
The reigning, back-to-back WSL Champion is full of confidence heading into the first round of the World Championship Tour, after a finals result at a warm up event at Newcastle last weekend.
Winning the world title in both 2016 and 2017 has put things in perspective for Wright who says the experience has set her up to enjoy her surfing a lot more in 2018.
Despite battling a knee injury through the latter half of 2017, Wright believes after an intensive offseason of training with coach Glen ‘Micro’ Hall, she is back in top form and ready to put plenty more world titles in the trophy cabinet.
Snapper Rock is one of the all-time classic surf breaks producing peeling barrels and some of the most competitive conditions on the world tour.
Roxy Pro Gold Coast kicks off at Snapper Rocks next Sunday 11th March, spanning 12 days of competition and concluding on April 22nd.
